MLK Day of Service
STUFF joined with Hands on Greater Richmond again to celebrate MLK day through service! Our project was featured in the Richmond Times Dispatch. Watch the video here.
Our Reflection Chain of Lights now lives at the Neighborhood Resource Center in Fulton Hill.
Project Description:
Join Richmond's latest do-good organization Stuff Inc. to make new things from old materials and build a community art piece reflecting on the life of Martin Luther King Jr. Stuff Inc's mission is to provide Richmond with a community space for creative reuse, education, environmental awareness and fun stuff.
Stuff is collecting discarded blank CD holders from local businesses and holiday lights from Richmond households to assemble a Reflective Peace Chain. Bring your reflections and thoughts about civil rights, peace, community and change to collectively create a text based, recycled lantern to be displayed in a public space around Richmond.
Hands on Greater Richmond Day
Stuff was a proud participant in the local non profit, Hands On Greater Richmond day of volunteering. Stuff led a simple art project aimed to showcase the sheer volume of Richmond community members that came out and volunteered on Saturday, October 18. Reusing old magazines, newspapers and scrap paper, volunteers made cut-outs of their hands.
The hand collages are now on display at the Hands on Greater Richmond offices.
